We are pleased to announce that SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE is now available for Education users.

xDesign is a cloud based parametric 3D modeller with many familiar tools which are also found in the SOLIDWORKS desktop application such as sketch tools, solid body features, surfacing tools and assemblies. Also included with xDesign are the Design Guidance tools which allow you to optimise a design or create a new design for a minimum amount of material based of set forces.

xShape (formally known as 3D Sculptor) is another cloud application which utilises a different approach to 3D modelling by using subdivision surfaces to allow designers to quickly and freely model in 3D by pushing, pulling and creasing primitive shapes or surfaces to create more organic or sculptural models which would be difficult to create using traditional parametric modelling techniques.

Any existing SOLIDWORKS files can be imported into the 3DEXPERIENCE and used with the above applications to either continue working on the part or to use the part as a reference for a new design.

Also included with the 3D Designer Package are a range of other 3D tools such as xDocument, xFrame, xMold and xSheetMetal.
