LaserCAM GT Warranty and Customer Responsibilities

About the LaserCAM GT Warranty and Customer Responsibilities
A LaserCAM GT machine is a precision laser engraving/cutting system. All LaserCAM GTs are built to high industrial standards, but to maintain a long and productive life the machine must be treated with care and respect.

Listed below are a number of points regarding use, operation, maintenance and health and safety precautions regarding the use of your TechSoft LaserCAM GT. It is important to comply with these points to ensure long and trouble free operation, and for the warranty to remain valid:

  • Before operating the machine a user must have first receive on-site training by a TechSoft service engineer, and must have also worked through the Training Pack provided with the machine.

  • The TechSoft LaserCAM GT is a precision laser engraving/cutting system. As with all laser systems, to maintain optimum efficiency, a regular schedule of cleaning must be carried out. Such cleaning should be carried out only by users that have had on-site training by TechSoft UK Ltd. Training can be included alongside a service of the machine, and any additional training to that provided on installation is chargable. The cost can be found below.

  • It is important to clean the lens and mirrors regularly, as well as cleaning the internal cabinet. A build up of dirt on the lens and mirrors will not only reduce the efficiency of the laser, but could result in their damage or failure. (These items are consumable parts and are therefore not covered by the one year limited machine warranty.) A build up of dirt and debris on or under the honeycomb bed is a fire hazard, and should be cleaned thoroughly before continuing operation of the machine. (TechSoft UK Ltd is not liable for any fire damage caused by a build up of dirt and debris).

  • The LaserCAM GT contains a water chiller to regulate the laser tube temperature. The water level must be checked regularly, and every 6 months the water must be drained and replaced with fresh distilled water. Not doing so will invalidate the warranty. You must ONLY use distilled water. Filling with regular tap water, deionised water, or any other fluid will invalidate the warranty.

  • Laser beam alignment commissioned by a TechSoft Service Engineer will have been found to be correct, or the TechSoft Service Engineer will have stated in writing if there is an issue with alignment for any reason. Laser beam alignment can only be carried out by a TechSoft Service Engineer, as specialist training, tools and safety equipment are required. The user must not attempt to alter or adjust the laser beam alignment themselves (any such attempts will invalidate the warranty). Moving a LaserCAM GT A2+ or A1+ machine may disturb the laser beam alignment, particularly if it is handled roughly, or if it is positioned on an uneven floor. Misalignment of the laser beam can also be caused by over tightening of mirror, lens screws, etc. Laser beam alignment is not covered by the one year limited laser tube warranty, so a call-out fee will be charged if the beam needs to be re-aligned.

  • It is important to keep a minimum of 100mm space around the machine to regulate its temperature. Never lean objects against the machine.

  • The machine MUST be exhausted through the HEPA rated extraction unit supplied (if the machine is purchased without an extraction unit from TechSoft, you agree to purchase a HEPA rated extraction unit separately – if the unit is not rated equivalent or better than a unit provided by TechSoft then this will invalidate the warranty). The filters in the extraction unit must be monitored and replaced when necessary to ensure that they are working effectively and are not blocked. The pre-filter (white bag) should be replaced at least every 6 months, and the main filter (metal box) at least every 12 months, but these may need changing more frequently dependent on use. NO laser cutting or engraving must take place without adequate extraction. (Using the laser without extraction will invalidate any warranty.)

  • Although a properly maintained LaserCAM GT extraction unit removes all dangerous substances from the exhaust and is classed as safe for internal venting, it may not remove all smells, some of which can be very unpleasant. For this reason we always recommend that the exhaust be vented externally.

  • The LaserCAM GT MUST NOT be left unattended whilst the laser is emitting. Only trained personnel should use the machine. (In a secondary school, no student can be considered as trained personnel). Using the laser cutter without a trained personnel’s attendance will invalidate the warranty.

  • PVC based materials MUST NOT be cut or engraved using the LaserCAM GT (this includes proprietary brand materials made of, or including PVC). The by-products of combustion of PVC include hydrochloric acid. This will damage the machine and the extraction system. Common materials containing PVC include vinyl and foamboard (also known as Forex). (Such damage is not covered by the one year limited warranty.)

  • You are aware that some materials commonly used for laser cutting, such as plywood and MDF, have laser-grade versions. You should only use laser-grade plywood and laser-grade MDF (TechSoft often call this medite), and not standard plywood and MDF.

  • Materials with reflective surfaces or uncoated metals MUST NOT be cut or engraved using the LaserCAM GT. The laser beam may reflect off the surface and cause a risk to Health and Safety, as well as damage to the machine. (Such damage is not covered by the one year limited machine warranty.)

  • You acknowledge that some materials can catch fire during normal machine cutting. Also, you acknowledge the use of incorrect software settings can cause a fire with most material. An appropriate type of fire extinguisher should be sited near to the machine at all times. TechSoft is not liable for the result of any fire damage caused whilst the machine is in operation.

  • The machine should be serviced by a TechSoft Service Engineer at least every 12 months. A service is not included as part of the machine’s one year limited warranty. The cost can be found below.

  • The user agrees to follow all of the safety guidance as specified in the TechSoft Training Course booklet for the machine.

  • To comply with statutory COSHH regulations, the extraction system must be tested and certified annually, or at least every 14 months. Establishments need to maintain a record of such testing. TechSoft offer a full testing and reporting service should this be required. This is not included as part of a standard TechSoft machine service and must be ordered separately.
