Specially designed for use in education, craft, and prototyping, the LaserBox is built to a high standard, and comes packed with innovative features.SimpleThe machine is ready to use straight out of the box. With the clear and simple documentation, you’ll be up and running in less than 15 minutes. Focussing is adjusted automatically when the material thickness is entered in the software.
CompactWith the Smart Smoke Purifier in place, the Laserbox Pro takes up just over a metre of bench space.
EasyDespite having powerful features, the free software supplied with the Laserbox couldn’t be simpler to use. Basic shapes can easily be laid out and processed, and complex CAD can be imported from
TechSoft Design V3.
SafeThe Laserbox is one of the most ‘school friendly’ machines we have ever seen.
Simple safety notifications alert the user to errors and cutting pauses automatically when the lid is opened. Laser cutters should always be supervised during use, but the Laserbox is perfectly safe (and definitely easy enough) for students to use themselves.
The
Smart Smoke Purifier features automatic switching and overrun to clear lingering fumes. Flow-rate adjusts intelligently based on cutting time for each job, ensuring effective fume capture at all times, and filter condition is monitored with onscreen notifications. Filter life depends on usage and material preferences, but when necessary the HEPA composite filter is quick and simple to change.
New InnovationsThe Laserbox is fitted with a 5 mega-pixel camera facing the work area, which allows the machine to perform some unique routines.
Using the
‘Bring Sketch to Life’ routine, the camera scans lines drawn with normal marker pens and processes them using a visual recognition algorithm. At the press of a button, the machine will cut around the drawn shape (with surprising accuracy), removing all hurdles from the creative process and letting younger students design and create quickly and safely!
With the
‘Smart Image Extraction’ tool, the camera can also be used to simply scan any flat image, which can then be transformed and re-positioned on a new workpiece. Simple branding and decoration for student projects, without complex CAD routines.
The camera also makes accurate positioning very simple; the software shows the workpiece on screen, allowing you the freedom to re-size, adjust, and place the design exactly where you wish it to be cut. This means every scrap of material can be used and affords many opportunities to get creative by adding embellishments to existing objects.
What Can I Cut With the Laserbox?Apart from metals and vinyls, most workshop plastics, textiles and graphic materials are fine. Results with timber products may vary, but TechSoft supply a range of ‘laser grade’ plywood and MDF. Suitable material up to around 6mm thick will cut well and the power of the laser will largely dictate speed of cut rather than ultimate depth.
