Installing the LaserCAM Printer Driver

Notes

This article applies to the air cooled LaserCAM range only. For printer driver information for the water cooled LaserCAM GT machines please contact us.

Important: If you currently have a LaserCAM driver on your computer, you should uninstall the old driver first before trying to install the new driver.

New Driver Installation
  1. Turn on your computer WITHOUT the LaserCAM attached and log in as an Administrator.

  2. Download the driver from our website download page. You should end up with a file called "LaserCAM_A###.zip" on your computer (where ### corresponds to your driver).

  3. Browse to the download location on your computer. Right-click on the file and click "Extract All...". You should now have a folder called "LaserCAM_A###" created in the same directory.

  4. If you are upgrading your driver, or if your computer has ever had a LaserCAM driver installed on it before, then you first need to uninstall the old driver first.

  5. If you are using Windows 8/8.1/10, you first need to install the printer driver certificates.

  6. Turn on the LaserCAM.

  7. Attach the LaserCAM to your computer via a USB cable.

  8. If you do not have any other LaserCAM drivers already installed on your computer, wait for Windows to finish its own “Installing device driver software” which automatically occurs after attaching the cable.

  9. Open the Devices and Printers window (Start > Devices and Printers in Windows 7; or right click Start > Control Panel > Devices and printers in Windows 8/8.1/10. If the USB connection has been installed correctly you should now see an IEEE icon under Unspecified Devices as per the image below:

  10. Select any printer that is currently installed on your computer and then on the top menu bar click on Print Server Properties.

  11. Choose the Ports tab. Scroll down the list of ports until you find one beginning with USB and described as a "Virtual Printer Port for USB".

If there is one port beginning with USB, remember this port number, e.g. on the example image below it would be USB001.

If there is more than one port beginning with USB, click on this link to help choose the correct port.

  12. Remember the port number found in the step above and click Cancel.

  13. From the Devices and Printers window click Add a printer.

  14. If you are using Windows 8/8.1/10, click "The printer that I want isn't listed".

  15. Click "'Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings"' (Windows 8/8.1/10) or "Add a local printer" (Windows 7).

  16. Click Use an existing port and choose the Port which you remembered earlier.

  17. Click Next.

  18. Click Have Disk….

  19. Click Browse…. Browse to either the file ‘LTT LaserCAM_A1+.inf’, ‘LTTLaserCAM_A2+.inf’ or ‘LTTLaserCAM_A3+.inf’ (ie., the new printer driver) depending on which LaserCAM you are trying to install.

  20. Click Open.

  21. Click OK.

  22. Click Next.

  23. Click Next.

  24. Click Install this driver software anyway.

  25. Click Do not share this printer.

  26. Click Next.

  27. Check or uncheck Set as the default printer as required.

  28. Click Finish.

  29. Important! Right-click on the LaserCAM that has just been installed. Click "Printer Properties". Click "Advanced". Tick "Start printing after last page is spooled". Untick "Enable advanced printing features".

  30. If you are installing the driver on an Administrator account, but will be using the LaserCAM from another log-in on the computer, you may also need to change the security settings for the other users.

Congratulations, you have now successfully installed your LaserCAM printer driver.
