SOLIDWORKS Installation Guide - Network Edition


Installation of the Network Edition of SOLIDWORKS involves the two stages listed below.

Note: This page is only relevant to users installing the Network Edition of SOLIDWORKS. If this is not the case, please use our Standalone Installation Guide.
Stage 1: Install SolidNetWork Licence Manager onto your server computer
Your server computer will store your SOLIDWORKS licence using a program called SolidNetWork Licence Manager.

All user (client) computers running SOLIDWORKS must be able to communicate with the server computer. Each time the program is started, it checks for the licence on the server computer.

Stage 2: Install SOLIDWORKS onto your user (client) computers
There are two methods for doing this:
  • Administrative Image
    Create an Administrative Image which can be used to package and prepare the software to install onto client computers.

    This option is preferable if you are installing onto many computers.
